Weekend Wrap Up
On Friday night we had a fun event at our house!!!! Emma Grace had a Valentine's Dance through her school to go to and we decided to have a big group of her friends over for dinner before going to the dance. In fact--we had 16 SIXTH graders!!! Crazy! PLUS--their parents. They all came to take pictures and just help out. What a hoot! Everyone had a date for the dance and they even gave each other corsages, etc...I don't think I did any of that until high school..they are so grown up! Brett and I had to really scratch our heads to figure out how we could seat all 16 at a table. We ended up putting 2 8ft tables together to form a square and then we were able to get all the chairs around it. We rented the chairs and some chafing dishes to keep all the food warm.
We decided on a "romantic" Italian dinner theme of a pasta bar. I think it was a hit! We had a couple of kinds of pasta, chicken, sausage, veggies, a marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, and cheeses. That way the kids could "build" their own bowl of pasta. A lot of the other parents brought appetizers, desserts, and drinks which was a huge help.
Here is Emma Grace and her cute date Jordan!
Caroline even wore a cute Valentine's outfit for the occasion. (Thank you Metz family)
After the dance Emma Grace had a couple of her "bestie's" to spend the night....so needless to say Brett and I were wiped out on Saturday....
....so on Sunday....Grandmama Gina came to the rescue....we were so thankful.....
She is going to help us with Caroline this week because....gulp....I started back to work today. It was an emotional day and I definitely shed some tears throughout the day. She will start daycare next week after Gina goes back home. I have such mixed emotions about it all. I actually didn't think I would be this upset about it....it was so tough! I am working on trying to get some part time options, but as of right now they are not available. Brett and I are just going to give this a try and reassess...we are open to changes if we feel that is what is best for our family.
Gina brought my birthday present......
This beautiful orchid. I immediately put it on our bathroom counter. It is so beautiful! Thank you!!!
So we are off to bed in the Scullen house...even Caroline...at least for a few precious hours...
Good night!
