Atlanta and First Doctor's appt
Caroline and I went with Brett to Atlanta on Tuesday, spent the night, and came back yesterday. It was her first official road trip and "over-night-er"...how exciting. Brett had a couple of busy days at work in Atlanta so instead of being by ourselves, we decided to tag along with Dad and hang out in A-Town. We had so much fun!!!!!
We got up there on Tuesday morning and while Brett was in some meetings, Caroline and I explored Atlanta and ran a couple of errands. Brett joined us later and we checked into our hotel. We originally had plans to go to a fancy restaurant in downtown Atlanta that Brett had heard wonderful reviews about. We were going to semi-celebrate my birthday (Thursday) early and treat ourselves to a nice night out. Around 3 pm, the weather turned ugly with thunderstorms and the temperature dropped to right around freezing. We made an executive decision that driving to downtown for 30 minutes, in the rain, with a 5 week old, all dressed up, would not make the night as fun as we had originally planned. So we "did not cancel the night"....just postponed it... (that was said to make us feel better...ha). Instead we went to Marlow's tavern across the street from the hotel.
And guess what - we had such a great time. The tavern was very causal and cozy...perfect for the ugliness that was outside. The food was also terrific. In fact, we couldn't have planned a better night. Funny how plans work themselves out. Caroline slept the entire time and we just "ate our selves silly". They had the most amazing "truffle parmesan fries" EVA...
We ate an embarrassing full plate of them and had absolutely no regrets....Except the next morning when we both asked for some tums....but so worth it!
The next day, Brett just had a couple of morning meetings and then we spent the rest of the day enjoying Atlanta and doing a tiny bit of shopping. I had to introduce Caroline to my favorite department store...Nordstrom!!!
Here we are teaching Caroline all about shoes....Brett is in such trouble....
I am proud to say however, that I was the only one who didn't come away with a purchase....Brett and Caroline scored!
When we got back to Alabama we went straight to Caroline's 4 week old appt. She is doing great. She weighed a whopping 9 pounds 4 ounces...and was in the 50th percentile for her height and weight. Smack dab in the middle....perfect!!! She had to get a shot and have her heel pricked. She is waiting with dad unaware of the misery to come...
And here she is "mid - heel - pricking" not too happy about the situation....
She gathered herself fairly quickly and after some snuggling, a good bottle, and a long overdue nap....she came around and forgave us!
