Meet my new Friend....TUMS!

Image
Well...I am not sure what this baby is doing in my belly....but one thing I know is that my reflux has reached all new levels!!! I have reached for this bottle no less than 10 times today. It makes me not even want to eat for fear of the "afterburn"!! In the past day or two, my acid reflux has kicked into overdrive. I now have this precious bottle with me at all times...especially at work!!! Me and my new buddy! Lets hope this can help keep it under control! Here are some pics from Kate's soccer team and her game. She is doing great! On a "Life Lesson Learned" note--Kate tried out for student council this passed week but learned she did not win the votes...Brett and I were so proud of her though! She worked really hard on this poster. She also typed out on the computer her speech that she gave to the class. We couldn't be more proud of her effort! It is a hard lesson to learn - that sometimes things don't "fall" our way. She will bo...

Bestie's Baby Shower

Image
This past weekend Brett and I flew to Houston because I was helping to host my best friend, Claire's, baby shower. She is due on October 31st!!!! We are so excited because we have been best friends since the age of 2 and are 1 day apart in age. So growing up, we have felt more like sisters than friends. We used to call each other the Bo Bo Jack Jack Twins (BBJJT)....so weird I know! We made that up probably around 12 years old because we thought Bo Jackson was super cool. Anyways we still bust it out every so often. Fun! And now, our kids will be super close in age too (2 months). What a blessing! She is having a girl but is keeping the name a secret. I can't wait!.... Here are a couple of pictures from the shower. About 9 of us helped to host so it turned out great. I, of course, left my camera with my sweet husband so these pictures are from Christine (hostess who had the shower at her house). She had the perfect place for a girls gathering! Here is Claire, her ...

Where Have We Been?????

Image
WHEW!!!!! It has been way tooooo long since I have posted on the blog! We have has so much stuff going on at the Scullen House that the weeks just got away from me. The kids have started back to school and are doing great. They are involved in a bunch of after school activities that keep them busy! Both Emma Grace and Kate are taking piano lessons. Christopher is playing "fall ball" (baseball) and is doing awesome. At his game last week he pitched his first inning and got a ground rule double (He hit the ball just inside the outfield fence and then it bounced over). Kate is doing soccer again this year and she says she "loves playing defense the best". Emma Grace is trying tennis out for the first time this summer/fall and has improved so much in just 1 month. Brett has gotten back into playing tennis again too and so he is really enjoying watching her play and giving some good pointers. Brett has started his new job in Atlanta and "so far so good!...

Onion Baby!!!

Image
We made it to 17 weeks! Hooray!! I am feeling great and have no complaints! Brett came to one of my Dr appts on Monday and he got to hear the heartbeat which is so fun! This week the baby is an onion...yum! We scheduled our sonogram for the first week in August and I can't wait. We tackled a major list of projects this past weekend. We didn't get all of them done....but we definitely made some progress. One of them was to "revamp" our screened-in-porch. We decided to stain the boring concrete floor as a starter. We chose a dark brown color. Here is a pic partway through the process. We then put a couple of high gloss sealer coats on it...looking good! We ordered a big "lounging" sofa to go on one half and a dining room table will go on the other. Soon we plan to "mortar wash" the entire outside of the house which is this dark red brick, so that part of the porch will get changed then too. I will post some pictures once the transformat...

15 Weeks!

Image
Yesterday I was officially 15 weeks!!! Hooray! My stomach is definitely making an appearance this week. Here is my first official prego picture: We spent the Monday with all 3 kids and had fun! I love long weekends! We watched a movie, went over to a friend's house and swam in their pool and just hung out all day. I caught Kate at the computer singing her heart out to a song. She also added some "moves" to her performance. Funny!! This is what Sadie usually looks like when the kids leave. She LOVES being with them and seriously gets depressed when they leave. She stayed like this on the couch for hours. She looked so pitiful I didn't have the heart to shoo her off of it. This weekend Brett's parents, Gina and Bob, and his Aunt Linda are coming into town and we will be with the kids-yeah!! Should be busy but fun!

S U R P R I S E ! ! !

Here at the Scullen house....we have some VERY EXCITING news to share with everyone!!! WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This week we are 14 weeks along and the baby is the size of a lemon!!! Our due date is December 28, 2010. Looks like it will be a Christmas to remember. We will be doing weekly updates every Tuesday as this baby gets bigger!! Brett and I came up with an idea of how to tell the kids when we were about 12 weeks along. We are a "card-playing-family!!", so we thought we should incorporate that somehow. One night we all decided to play the game of Spoons. I wrote the message " We Are Having A Baby" on some extra cards and secretly placed them in the deck. Spoons is a fast game and it took the kids a minute to realize the "message" as the cards were flying!! It was so exciting!! Everyone was shocked and hugs were everywhere. It was so hard for me to keep this secret from the kids. Especially Emma Grace-- she had been telling...

FINALLY!!!!!!!

Image
Finally we have sat down long enough to post! Whew! The past month has been a whirlwind for both Brett and I but I am going to attempt to catch everybody up. May ended so quickly for us. We were frantically trying to finish up things at the house which is a big chore! My last day at the VA Hospital in Birmingham was May 28 th . It was bittersweet for me, but overall exciting because that meant Brett and I were on to our next adventure. I spent the first week of June packing up the house. Such a hassle....but we got it all done. That week we drove back and forth to the house meeting contractors and basically just writing a ton of checks!! :) On one of those trips...Sadie (our furry 4 th child) was playing in the front yard (workman had left the front door open)....when she GOT HIT BY A CAR!!! It was so awful! All the kids were there to see it and she got hit hard!!! I immediately took off in a sprint to her in full adrenaline mode. She was just howling/crying on the side of...
