Bestie's Baby Shower

This past weekend Brett and I flew to Houston because I was helping to host my best friend, Claire's, baby shower. She is due on October 31st!!!! We are so excited because we have been best friends since the age of 2 and are 1 day apart in age. So growing up, we have felt more like sisters than friends. We used to call each other the Bo Bo Jack Jack Twins (BBJJT)....so weird I know! We made that up probably around 12 years old because we thought Bo Jackson was super cool. Anyways we still bust it out every so often. Fun! And now, our kids will be super close in age too (2 months). What a blessing! She is having a girl but is keeping the name a secret. I can't wait!....

Here are a couple of pictures from the shower. About 9 of us helped to host so it turned out great. I, of course, left my camera with my sweet husband so these pictures are from Christine (hostess who had the shower at her house). She had the perfect place for a girls gathering!

Our theme was Cowgirl and Christine helped to put together the perfect accessories!! We love pink!
Here are a couple of pics that are late in getting up....Brett turned 26 (oops...that is a typo....he wishes!...I mean 36) on August 30th. We had a sweet family birthday party complete with a typical "Scullen Dance Off" at the end. We love turning some music on and seeing "who has got the moves!!!"

    Mamo and I are enjoying getting caught up on the blog. You guys are really having fun family time together. Maybe I'm a little jealous? Amber and I really enjoyed seeing everyone in August on our 1900 mile roundtrip road trip from Texas to Opelika and back home to Corpus Christi.

    Such a fun-filled baby shower, huh? We'll also gonna have our baby shower next week, and my hubbie and my friends are now preparing for it. We'll gonna celebrate our baby shower in Missouri, and great to know that my husband's already arranged the finances, including the payday loan for my labor, hospital bills and other stuff.

Meet Caroline Brooke Scullen!

Wow...so much to say...so many pictures to show.... Caroline Brooke Scullen arrived on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 5:33pm. She was just perfect. We came home from the hospital on Wednesday and needless to say....the days have been a bit of a blur ever since! :) Unfortunately, both Brett and I have been really sick with sinus/chest cold nastiness. So, in addition to being a bit sleep deprived we also are totally under the weather...a bummer! I am trying to suffer through it without taking any of the "strong stuff" for meds... Anyways....things are getting better everyday! She is just so great and I know couldn't imagine our family without her. All 3 of the kids are so great with her...I think she never leaves one of her siblings arms... She weighed 7 lb 1 oz at birth and we left the hospital at 6 lb 10 oz. We went back for a weigh in yesterday and she know weighs 6 lb 5 oz. The doctors are now concerned that she has lost a little too much. I have been struggling...

The Scullen's Summer

Well....the Scullen's have been busy. It is quite obvious since I haven't posted since...well...early May. Yikes. The summer has come and gone and school is back. We have had an exciting summer to say the least. Get ready for picture overload...I am going to try and catch us up...and these are just the highlights! Ha! Caroline and I kicked the summer off with the annual "Mother - Daughter" Trip in May.  It was fantastic.  Long gone are the days of  no babies, sleeping in, 3 cups of coffee, lots of late nights with yummy wine...No...this trip has evolved.  It is different, but just as refreshing.  I now come home from this trip utterly exhausted, but with my heart smiling, and my spirit revived!  I need my second moms and my best friends.  One year passes way too slow. This year we rented a home in Galveston, TX.  It was gorgeous.  Yup...could have moved in.  Loved it all. Daily walks by the "Grammies" and kiddos B.L.I.S.S...

One Big Update!

Since it has been so long since I posted.... I thought I would do one big update on each member of the Scullen family to see what we have been up to! Here it goes - I am so proud of Brett - he has started running as of a few months ago and he has now run in 2 races. He is an official "runner". Here he is in his first 5K with his buddy Jay. He did great. Brett and I have been running at least 3x/week. I have had a slow transition back into being a runner. It is very humbling to say the least. I am feeling stronger now and just keep telling myself this is a slow process. Caroline, myself, and the BOB jogging stroller have had a lot of time together especially hoofing it up our massive hills in the area. Ha! I figured I didn't run while pregnant and just post baby which totals up to 7 months. Yikes! I am much happier when I have the time to run....That is the hardest part. Between working, mom duties, wife duties little is left over, but I am learning when to sn...
