One Big Update!
Since it has been so long since I posted.... I thought I would do one big update on each member of the Scullen family to see what we have been up to!
Here it goes -
I am so proud of Brett - he has started running as of a few months ago and he has now run in 2 races. He is an official "runner". Here he is in his first 5K with his buddy Jay.
He did great. Brett and I have been running at least 3x/week. I have had a slow transition back into being a runner. It is very humbling to say the least. I am feeling stronger now and just keep telling myself this is a slow process. Caroline, myself, and the BOB jogging stroller have had a lot of time together especially hoofing it up our massive hills in the area. Ha! I figured I didn't run while pregnant and just post baby which totals up to 7 months. Yikes! I am much happier when I have the time to run....That is the hardest part. Between working, mom duties, wife duties little is left over, but I am learning when to sneak it in and know that it needs to be a priority. Brett and I want our kids to know that staying healthy is a priority to us and for them to learn those habits!
The Easter bunny came this year...
Here is Caroline - we all wore shades of blue. If this child is not a Brett-look-alike....than I just don't know. Those cheeks, chin and same smile. I just love it!
Emma Grace and Kate played in their "End of Year Piano Recital". They were wonderful! They each played a solo number and then played a duet together. Here they are after the show!
They are so beautiful!
Here they are with their youngest sissy....who is just about to sneeze...ha!
Christopher is all about baseball right now! He is doing great. He is either pitching, catching, or playing first base. All very tough positions. He is one of the best on his team... (natch!) and really works hard at it. He was away at a tough travel tournament this past weekend. We missed him bunches. The girls got some good Dad time though....he soaks it up!
Again...that Scullen gene is pretty strong...they are such look a likes!
Last weekend Auburn had this great festival called the Auburn City Fest. Lots of music, vendors, and performances. On Saturday morning they held a 5K and a kids fun run. Brett and I had intended on running the 5K, but just could not get our crowd out the door in time. We heard the gun go off as we were parking the car. Ha! Oh well....(my "type A" self is having to learn to be OK with being a few minutes late sometimes....4 kids...it just doesn't always happen...) So we decided to run with Kate and Emma Grace who were going to run in the 1 mile fun run. Brett ran with Kate and I ran with Emma Grace. AND....Emma Grace got First Place out of all the kids and won $100 gift certificate to Academy...WOW! I had tears in my eyes as I peeled off and she sprinted to the finish line. It was a come from behind race too. A younger girl had been in front of us the whole race until the last 200 yards. I whispered to Emma Grace..."go for it....NOW....you have got this". Emma Grace glanced at me and then took it to the next gear....it was AWESOME! No sooner had the first and second place finishers crossed, than I saw our Kate and Brett truckin' it to the end. Kate was the third kid to finish!!!! A great day for the Scullens!
Here they are about to start. I love Kate's coordinating running outfit. It says"When the game gets tough, the tough get game". She loves the pink and purple of course!
Kate racing strong to the finish
The Scullen Crew
Emma Grace accepting her first place award...wahoo!
Kate, Caroline, and Aubie - so cool!
Caroline is doing great. She just had her 4 month appointment (a week or so late :)
She weighs 15 lb, 6oz and was 26 inches tall (75% percentile for both). She has started rolling over and can almost sit up. She loves watching the dogs play and when her sisters and brother hold her. She is my companion on my runs and does great. Right to sleep!
She usually goes to bed around 8:30 and sometimes sleeps until 6 am and sometimes will wake up around 4 am take a bottle and go right back to bed. I feel very lucky especially with the early hours of my job to have a pretty decent sleeper. She is drinking about 4-6oz of formula at each feeding which is about every 3 hours during the day. She takes one whopper nap of about 3 hours in the late morning and then a smaller 30-45 min nap in the late afternoon. I feel like we have her on a pretty good schedule. Our nanny, Kristin, is owed a lot of that credit. She is so great with Caroline and loves on her a ton.
She is doing this funny "blowing bubbles" thing right now...I mean she is constantly doing it. Especially in the car...she will go on for 20 min or so. It is hilarious.
Here she is at the City Fest...so close to rolling over. We just can't get enough of her!
All In All....we have been on the move...Today was Kate's birthday, Christopher is in Washington DC....will post pictures of the par-tay tomorrow...it never stops!

Love your blog post and your busy family. Thank you for keeping your people in Texas posted on the happenings of the Scullens. Caroline is growing up so quickly. Love the bubbles and turning over at the park.
