Weekend at the Grand Hotel

We decided that since this was the last weekend before school was out and in the midst of the kids "birthday celebrations", that a relaxing weekend was in order!!  We drove down to Point Clear, Alabama and stayed at the Grand Hotel...it was perfect.  With all the work on the house we have done lately, a weekend of R & R was just what we needed.

We got there Friday night just in time for a perfect sunset!  We didn't even leave the resort the entire weekend.  They had several great restaurants and so much fun stuff to do....








Here we are at breakfast the next morning.  They had the BEST breakfast buffet...so many choices..










Kate and I were fans of the waffle bar....notice mine is half gone!










They next day we pretty much camped out at the pool..it was huge!!!

They had a great restaurant poolside so we could just stay in our bathing suits!  We are doing the famous "kate pose"!!  Peace signs!!










After lunch we decided to try kayaking on the bay...

Everyday at 4pm...they shoot off a canon to honor the military and the Grand Hotel...the kids were really into it.  It was loud!!!

After dinner, they had a band playing so we all played around in a grassy field "dancing to the music".   Kate took the lead of course!

Sadly, on Sunday, we had to leave to go back home....but we will be back!

Meet Caroline Brooke Scullen!

Wow...so much to say...so many pictures to show.... Caroline Brooke Scullen arrived on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 5:33pm. She was just perfect. We came home from the hospital on Wednesday and needless to say....the days have been a bit of a blur ever since! :) Unfortunately, both Brett and I have been really sick with sinus/chest cold nastiness. So, in addition to being a bit sleep deprived we also are totally under the weather...a bummer! I am trying to suffer through it without taking any of the "strong stuff" for meds... Anyways....things are getting better everyday! She is just so great and I know couldn't imagine our family without her. All 3 of the kids are so great with her...I think she never leaves one of her siblings arms... She weighed 7 lb 1 oz at birth and we left the hospital at 6 lb 10 oz. We went back for a weigh in yesterday and she know weighs 6 lb 5 oz. The doctors are now concerned that she has lost a little too much. I have been struggling...

The Scullen's Summer

Well....the Scullen's have been busy. It is quite obvious since I haven't posted since...well...early May. Yikes. The summer has come and gone and school is back. We have had an exciting summer to say the least. Get ready for picture overload...I am going to try and catch us up...and these are just the highlights! Ha! Caroline and I kicked the summer off with the annual "Mother - Daughter" Trip in May.  It was fantastic.  Long gone are the days of  no babies, sleeping in, 3 cups of coffee, lots of late nights with yummy wine...No...this trip has evolved.  It is different, but just as refreshing.  I now come home from this trip utterly exhausted, but with my heart smiling, and my spirit revived!  I need my second moms and my best friends.  One year passes way too slow. This year we rented a home in Galveston, TX.  It was gorgeous.  Yup...could have moved in.  Loved it all. Daily walks by the "Grammies" and kiddos B.L.I.S.S...

One Big Update!

Since it has been so long since I posted.... I thought I would do one big update on each member of the Scullen family to see what we have been up to! Here it goes - I am so proud of Brett - he has started running as of a few months ago and he has now run in 2 races. He is an official "runner". Here he is in his first 5K with his buddy Jay. He did great. Brett and I have been running at least 3x/week. I have had a slow transition back into being a runner. It is very humbling to say the least. I am feeling stronger now and just keep telling myself this is a slow process. Caroline, myself, and the BOB jogging stroller have had a lot of time together especially hoofing it up our massive hills in the area. Ha! I figured I didn't run while pregnant and just post baby which totals up to 7 months. Yikes! I am much happier when I have the time to run....That is the hardest part. Between working, mom duties, wife duties little is left over, but I am learning when to sn...
