I am dreaming of a white Christmas....

Our Christmas was just great!!!! And to top it off, Christmas night we got a "dusting" of snow which made it that much more fun!
Here are the kids after the Santa presents were found and they were patiently waiting to open up all the presents under the tree....you would think it was just torture...!
Santa was very good to us this year...Emma Grace got the hottest new pair of Uggs, Christopher got a PlayStation 3, and Kate got a fancy makeup/jewelry organizer for the wall from PBTeen...amongst a ton of other goodies under the tree....we are so blessed! Santa also brought Brett and I matching Frye boots....so cute!
Christmas night we planned a great dinner. Brett....who dreams of being a full time chef...planned to cook a 14 LB standing Rib Roast...daunting to me, but Brett was so excited. He read that Thomas Keller (his chef idol) prepares his by carmelizing the outside with a blow torch before the slow roast begins...so needless to say we now own a blow torch..and not the kind you can by at Bed, Bath & Beyond...no a serious, honest-to-goodness official blow torch from Lowe's....yikes! Here he is in action..

Here is Emma Grace after she and Gina set a wonderful table. We also had yummy rosemary roasted potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, rice/spinach casserole, and appetizers galore....it was a feast. For dessert Gina made her famous carrot cake and black forrest cake from scratch..YUM
My mom is about to arrive from Texas and tomorrow we are off to the hospital to meet this new baby....I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!

Meet Caroline Brooke Scullen!

Wow...so much to say...so many pictures to show.... Caroline Brooke Scullen arrived on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 5:33pm. She was just perfect. We came home from the hospital on Wednesday and needless to say....the days have been a bit of a blur ever since! :) Unfortunately, both Brett and I have been really sick with sinus/chest cold nastiness. So, in addition to being a bit sleep deprived we also are totally under the weather...a bummer! I am trying to suffer through it without taking any of the "strong stuff" for meds... Anyways....things are getting better everyday! She is just so great and I know couldn't imagine our family without her. All 3 of the kids are so great with her...I think she never leaves one of her siblings arms... She weighed 7 lb 1 oz at birth and we left the hospital at 6 lb 10 oz. We went back for a weigh in yesterday and she know weighs 6 lb 5 oz. The doctors are now concerned that she has lost a little too much. I have been struggling...

The Scullen's Summer

Well....the Scullen's have been busy. It is quite obvious since I haven't posted since...well...early May. Yikes. The summer has come and gone and school is back. We have had an exciting summer to say the least. Get ready for picture overload...I am going to try and catch us up...and these are just the highlights! Ha! Caroline and I kicked the summer off with the annual "Mother - Daughter" Trip in May.  It was fantastic.  Long gone are the days of  no babies, sleeping in, 3 cups of coffee, lots of late nights with yummy wine...No...this trip has evolved.  It is different, but just as refreshing.  I now come home from this trip utterly exhausted, but with my heart smiling, and my spirit revived!  I need my second moms and my best friends.  One year passes way too slow. This year we rented a home in Galveston, TX.  It was gorgeous.  Yup...could have moved in.  Loved it all. Daily walks by the "Grammies" and kiddos B.L.I.S.S...

One Big Update!

Since it has been so long since I posted.... I thought I would do one big update on each member of the Scullen family to see what we have been up to! Here it goes - I am so proud of Brett - he has started running as of a few months ago and he has now run in 2 races. He is an official "runner". Here he is in his first 5K with his buddy Jay. He did great. Brett and I have been running at least 3x/week. I have had a slow transition back into being a runner. It is very humbling to say the least. I am feeling stronger now and just keep telling myself this is a slow process. Caroline, myself, and the BOB jogging stroller have had a lot of time together especially hoofing it up our massive hills in the area. Ha! I figured I didn't run while pregnant and just post baby which totals up to 7 months. Yikes! I am much happier when I have the time to run....That is the hardest part. Between working, mom duties, wife duties little is left over, but I am learning when to sn...
