Los Angeles Trip

Image
This past weekend, Brett and I went out to Los Angeles to attend my grandfather's memorial service.  He passed away in February after a battle with Leukemia.  My grandfather was such a wonderful man!  We decided to wait a few months for a service so that the entire family could be together.  Here are some pics from the trip We arrived last Thursday...on Friday a bunch of us took a trip to the Getty Center.  It is sooo beautiful.  Not only is the artwork wonderful, but I think I just enjoy the building and the gardens even more!!  It was a perfect California day. My grandmother (Jessie) and I overlooking the LA skyline.  From this view you can actually see their house...so cool! Some of the beautiful gardens! Brett and I enjoying this weather! My brother and mom....look at that view!!!!  Wow! My Mom (Val), grandmother, cousin Amber, and aunt Sue....on this great iron bridge in one...

Kate's Horse Show

Image
Here is Kate's Horse Show from last Saturday. Unfortunately I was on call at the hospital at Birmingham so I couldn't go, but Brett came back with some great pictures. All the kids (and Brett) came back to Bham saturday night to be with me. It was so great. Look at her jump!  I cannot believe it!!  And of course the fashionable hot pink helmet...what else? more jumping... Second Place!!!!!  Kate---we are so proud of you!!! Emma Grace....stylin it out!!! When they came back Saturday afternoon, we all headed out to Flip Burger for dinner.  It is this super cool burger joint with some amazing views.  It was started by one of the Top Chef winners.  They have some crazy twists on the burger.  And then...for dessert....they have milkshakes.  But no vanilla and strawberry....we split the "krispy kreme milkshake" and the "nutella and marshmallow milkshake"...pure sugar bliss!  The kids were in ...

Christopher's Baseball Game

Image
Christopher had a Baseball game Monday night. Go Phillies!! Unfortunately, suffered their second loss of the season, but Christopher did get to tryout pitching for the first time in a game. He did great! I think Brett was more nervous then he was! Here are some pictures  Here he is about to pitch for the first time.  We were so proud of him. Looks like it would have been a strike to me! Hey batter batter.....He has had TWO HOME RUNS so far this year! Some sweet, consoling moments between father and son.  Losing is hard...They are so sweet together!

Hello!!!

I want to start blogging as a way to communicate with all of our friends and family. We want to keep everyone updated on the latest Scullen News!!! We are moving from Birmingham to Opelika, AL on June 1st!!!!! WE are soooo excited. The kids, Emma Grace, Christopher, and Kate all live in Opelika and we cannot wait to be near them. I know Brett has dreamed of this day for years. He has always longed to be in the same city as them, but has felt stuck in Birmingham, burdened by his career and being able to provide for them financially. Birmingham and Opelika are about 100 miles apart and Brett knows the road well. He is always driving down and back for baseball games, talent shows, and to help with homework. He is such a devoted dad!! This is all in addition to seeing the kids every other weekend. The moment I became a part of Brett's life, I told him we were going to figure out a way to make this happen...some way...some how. For several years, Brett has owned his Grandmot...
